Effortlessly capturing the magic and mesmerizing draw of the wilderness, today’s special album comes from the very capable hands of Bastian Kalous of Freyung, Germany. Taken on a routine walk into the woods around his neighborhood, he gives us an insightful glimpse into the wild, natural world with his wonderful compositions.
In a society which seemingly cultivates the need for “more,” Bastian’s photographs are honest and gentle reminders that all we might need is simply to calm down, and breathe in the beauty that already surrounds us.
“All we needed were the fresh air and our open eyes,” said Bastian, who was sure he would find something interesting during this walk. “It was wonderful and full of inspiration, and we had a good time together. It’s so nice to know that what we need is so close and so easy to get. We really don’t need that much money for it, and all we have to do is protect all of it that’s out there…”
When asked about what he felt made a great roll, he answered:
“There are some images which are very special for me, where the light was just perfect or where the films works perfectly, but most of my images are done on hiking tours through wild woods or high mountains. There are so many emotions and moods on these trips which make all the images very special to me. They tell little stories of my life in and with Mother Nature and I enjoy reading them again when I look at the set of images once more.”
